PharmEasy is a platform that facilitates the purchase of pharmaceutical products and healthcare services online. It acts as an intermediary or an interface between the customers intending to purchase medicines and other healthcare services online and the pharmacies or healthcare service providers who are registered with the platform.
Any order for medicine placed by a customer on the PharmEasy platform, is forwarded to and fulfilled by one or more pharmacy store registered on the platform.
The same is true for diagnostic packages or other services like online doctor consultations which are available on the platform. The services are fulfilled by the third-party labs or third-party medical practitioners who are registered on the platform.
The PharmEasy Revenue Model
In case of all the above services, PharmEasy acts as a mere intermediary and while the customer is the one placing the order for medicines or healthcare services, the seller is always the registered third-party pharmacy, lab or the registered medical practitioner fulfilling the order or delivering the healthcare services.
PharmEasy thus helps bring in more business for the third-party pharmacies or healthcare service providers and makes money by charging a commission from these pharmacies/healthcare providers.
It is also important to note here that, as of the date of this writing, API Holdings Limited which is the parent company of PharmEasy have a substantial controlling stake in diagnostic services provider ‘Thyrocare’.
